Tseminyu, April 18 (MExN): The Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) General Conference cum 3rd Anniversary was celebrated at Tseminyu Town Hall on April 17 with Advisor for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and Women Development, Nagaland, R Khing as special guest and Dr. Joshua Lorin, principal, Oriental Theological Seminary as the conference speaker.
Khing reminded the gathering of young Rengma people that youth are most powerful and explosive, therefore, making best use of the youth stage can make oneself valuable to the society, while dishonoring and misusing the power of youth can lead oneself to destruction. He urged every youth to be an asset to the society by fearing God, stated a press release from RSZ Media Cell.
Meanwhile, Dr. Joshua Lorin encouraged the Nthenyi Selo to harvest the potential that they have by translating the opinion of the youth to a reality. Citing youth life as the boiling point in the society, he stated one must be willing to change and be open to correction, according to the release.
Trust being very fragile, the release said, both Khing and Dr. Joshua urged the youth to keep strong faith and be trustworthy as the RSZ prepares to bring change. Though government has failed to bring change, elders and revolutionaries have failed to bring change too and the youth are inheriting drugs and alcohol, the speaker lamented.
“The task for youth is difficult but one should not be disheartened; youth must bring together the broken family of the society,” Dr. Joshua exhorted. “Therefore, RSZ is put in a very strategic position to carry the burden of the community. RSZ members should play a vital role and take the challenge to change our society rather than finding other way to hide in a comfort place when our future and integrity are challenged.”
The programme was attended by representatives from all Rengma villages, village council chairmen, churches, and youth members besides the delegates – Theodore Yanthan, ADC Tseminyu, officers from Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, host of Rengma officers, public leaders.
The release mentioned that the search committee for new officer bearers after the approval from the gathering presented its report, where Kenneth Kath was re-selected to lead the new tenure 2018-2021.
