Maligaon, January 28 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is actively engaged in renovating and constructing staff quarters across the Zone spreading over the jurisdiction of five divisions. A total of 116 new Type-II to Type-VI quarters are being constructed at Maligaon area with better facilities of running water, parking area and better drainage system. Children Parks have also been upgraded with modern facilities across the zone.

In Alipurduar division, renovation and construction work of staff quarters is in progress. Works in 135 number of Type-I & Type-II quarters are going on in rapid pace to provide better water supply and drainage system. Moreover, colony roads leading to the staff quarters are also being renovated with bitumen surface and concrete surface.

In Tinsukia division, a total of 462 damaged quarters have been renovated and construction of 86 of Type-II to Type-IV quarters are in progress. In Rangiya division 80 of Type-II quarters have been constructed by replacing Type-I quarters. Damaged colony roads under the division have also been improved and renovated with bitumen surface & concrete surface. Similarly, in Katihar division 324 no’s of Type II to Type-III quarters have been renovated. 48 no’s of Type -II to Type – III quarters have been also renovated in the DHR section. This was stated in a press release issued by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
