Republic Day celebrations across the state

: Mokokchung: The 62nd Republic Day was celebrated at Mokokchung town with Nagaland Minister for Forest, Environment, Ecology and Wild Life, M.C. Konyak as the chief guest. Addressing the impressive Republic Day parade at Imkongmeren Sports complex, Konyak said 329 kilometers of roads connecting Mon, Longleng, Phek, and Zunheboto district headquarters would be upgraded with two lane specifications over the next three years under Special Accelerated road Development programme for North East. The Minister also said the Interstate Bus and Truck Terminus for Tuensang will be initiated this year. The chief guest also announced that a new National Institute of Technology, which is functioning from Silchar Campus, would soon be brought to Dimapur and the process of setting up the Nagaland Flying Training Institute is at advance stage. Besides, the minister also reiterated state government’s commitment to carry forward ongoing developmental scheme in the state with a greater zeal.
Phek: Celebrations were held at Phek local ground with Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Kuzholuzo Nienu gracing the occasion as the chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag which was followed by Rashtriya salute and later he inspected the parade contingents. This was followed by giving away awards to the Phek district employees of the year.
The awardees are as follows: In the grade III staffs category senior accounts assistant Kevetsoyi Rhakho from treasury department, section assistant, Lhiwetso Kupa from PWD (housing) and LDA DC’s office Huvesuyi were the recipients. In the grade IV category; office peon Ruyosu Chuzo from planning, office peon Kerekha-u from Irrigation and a male attendant Rhupi from district hospital Phek were the recipients. The above awards were given in order to encourage the employees from the district.
The chief guest gave an award to the GHSS Phek which declared as the best contingent.
Later the chief guest visited the stalls which were put up by government departments and NGO’s. A weapon display by the 7th AR was a source of attraction to the public. The program was also attended by many dignitaries such as Commissioner and Secretary Health & Family Welfare Menukhol John, Director Health & Family Welfare, DC Phek, ADC Phek, SP Commandant 7 AR and host of Public leaders.
Kiphire: Dr Chumben Murry Minister for Agriculture Nagaland took the salute of the 62nd Republic day at Public ground Kiphire with heads of department and citizens of Kiphire. Addressing the 62nd Republic day celebration as chief guest Dr Murry said, The state government is sincerely following the policy of balance regional development and affirmative is being taken to develop the less developed areas so that it come to par with the rest of the state. Acknowledging the gap in development the chief guest said, ‘The government is aware that there are some gaps in development of some region but we have to have patience’ he added.
Meluri (Phek): Hundreds of people from all walks life turned up to attend the Republic Day celebration at Meluri public ground, which was graced by parliamentary secretary for Geology & Mining, Irrigation & Flood Control and Border Affairs, Y Patton as the chief guest.
Addressing the public, mostly villagers from Meluri sub-division, the chief guest in his R-Day speech said that the DAN government is giving priority to development of rural areas. Patton said that besides providing seasonal employment to the rural jobless, the government is focusing on strengthening the village development boards (VDBs) and has declared the VDBs as “micro finance institutions.”  “This will enable them to grant small loans to poor villagers and stand guarantee for bank loans,” he said. The parliamentary secretary also said that under rural housing, thousands of CGI roofed houses are being constructed in the villages all over the state and that under the Bharat Nirman scheme of rural connectivity, the target is to provide road connectivity to all habitations with a population of 500 and above.
Aboi: Parliamentary secretary for industries & commerce Dr. K.C. Nihoshe graced the Republic Day celebration today at Aboi. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nihoshe said that peace alone can ensure development and progress for the people of the state. He said the state government was sincerely followed a policy of balanced regional development and affirmative action to bring the less developed areas of the state at par with the rest of the state. The parliamentary secretary also stated that development of rural areas was another priority of the government, besides providing seasonal employment to the rural jobless while the focus on strengthening the VDBs continues.

Wokha: Minister for Urban Development & Higher Education, Dr. Shuhozelie graced the Celebration at Wokha. Dr. Shurhozelie who also re-launched the official website http://wokha.nic.in of the district emphasized that even among many educated persons many are not familiar with computer knowledge. He therefore encouraged all to come forward in making the website a successful and meaningful by giving right information to the people of the district in particular and the state in general.                     
Tuensang: Minister for School Education and SCERT Nagaland, Nyiewang Konyak was the Chief Guest at the venue parade ground Tuensang. The March past was led by Parade Central Commander, DSP Lanu Ao, DEF Tuensang and the contingents comprising of DEF Tuensang, 3rd NAP Tuensang, Village Guard Hakchang village, Village Guard Kuthor village, Ex. Servicemen, NCC Sao Chang college Tuensang, 3rd NAP High School, Scouts and Guides, Saramathians Scouts and Guides and followed by combined 3rd NAP Battalion Pipe Band Tuensang and Saramathian Pipe band Tuensang took part in the march past. It is to be mentioned that the Saramathian pipe band Tuensang are the first pipe band in Nagaland and 2nd North Eastern Region.
Zunheboto: Zunheboto observed the Republic Day celebrations at public local ground with Speaker Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Kiyaneilie Peseyie gracing the occasion as chief guest. Presentation was given to Best farmer Award sponsored by ATMA under different given categories, nominated by Agri and Allied Department.

Peren: Peren district also celebrated the 62nd Indian Republic day with Minister of Soil & Water Conservation, Land resources Development, Nagaland, P. Longon as the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest hand over the cash prizes of Rs. 1000/- each & certificate by the ATMA, Peren to the following Best Farmers under Peren District.

Mon: Mon district also celebrated the 62nd Republic day with Minister Road & Bridges, G. Kaito Aye as the chief guest at Local Ground Mon Hq. The Chief Guest unfurled the National Flag and took salute from the seven contingents, comprised of the 6th NAP, DEF, VG, Ex-servicemen, NCC (girls) and 6th NAP Pipe band. The day long celebration was marked by cultural dance by Chui women cultural troupe & Tangshen men cultural troupe, display of arms and ammunition by 6th AR, exhibition cum sale stalls of the Agri and allied department.
Shamatore: Shamatore, headquarter of Yimchunger, the land of High mountain and great warrior celebrated the 62nd Republic Day with chief guest MLA & Chairman NHHDC Nagaland, Shetoyi Sumi, who unfurled the tri colour of the Nation Flag. The chief guest was accompanied by Vice President Sumi Hoho, Yimchunger Tribal Council members, Yimchunger Akherü Arihako. The function was chaired by Anula Z. Tsanso.
Medziphema: Medziphema celebrated the 62nd Republic Day with MLA & Chairman NIDC, Nuklutoshi as the Chief Guest. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and took salute from the contingents and later read out the republic day speech. Altogether nine (9) contingents of both uniform and non-uniform participated in the March past. Other highlights of the function included Cultural Display by Medziphema Town church “A” and Khaibung youth cultural club and Retreat
Noklak: The 62nd Republic Day celebration at Noklak was graced by Minister for PHE Dr. Ngangshi Ao. He unfurled the National Flag and took salute from five parade contingents namely 3rd NAP Noklak, Choklangan VGs, Taknyu VGs, Ex-serviceman and Christian High School Noklak.
NCSU: Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) visited the patients at the Naga Hospital Kohima on the occasion of the 62nd Indian Republic Day and distributed token of cash relief as part of their humanitarian service. The NCSU team led by its president Pele Khezhie visited all 131 patients admitted at the NHAK and wished them speedy recovery.
On the occasion, the NCSU president Pele Khezhie reminded that the union is an NGO and have nothing much worthy to extent help but to give a small of love and encouragement to the patients.
