Reshuffle, Azha a ‘devious policy’ – NSCN (K)

Dimapur, May 20 (MExN): The NSCN (K) today alleged that the recent reshuffling of NSCN (IM) ministerial portfolio is another ploy to crush and suppress the democratic expression of the Nagas and particularly the Sumis. A press release received here from the Brig Niki Sumi, Peoples’ Army of Nagaland, NSCN (K), alleged that that the recent tumult and lessons learnt is an obvious reason that necessitated IM group to resort to major reshuffle in their Ministry.

“Allocations of crucial Ministerial portfolios and other major responsibilities basing solely on tribal lines and with main focus on containing eminent threat of rebellion against them is another ploy to crush and suppress the democratic expression of the Nagas and particularly the Sumis”, stated Brig Sumi.

The NSCN (K) alleged that the NSCN (IM) was “frustrated with failed political parleys with GoI and erosion of public support at home, defiance of their reprehensible diktats and violent retaliations” and terming this as “a symptom of rejection and intolerance to IM dictatorial rule”.

“The recent flare up at Wungram colony in re-action to Tangkhuls regular highhandedness and resultant public outcry that led to demolition of the colony has been misconstrued as revolt against IM, the incident though sparked off by residents of Purana Bazar composing mostly of Sumis were later joined by individuals from cross-sections of Naga tribes and hosts of non-Nagas as well”, Brig Sumi stated.

Pointing out that this event should have been treated as animosity between Wungram and Purana Bazar colony alone, the NSCN (K) however regretted that it was “quite un-precedent and immature reaction of IM through declaration of so called National Standing Azah to apprehend leaders of the revolt by empowering Home Ministry to inquire and submit report to the Cabinet for subsequent punishment”. This “exposes their inner fear of such recurring revolts in the offing and to perpetuate reign of lawlessness by adopting intimidation and ominous fore-warning to curb public expression”, Brig Sumi stated.

It was further stated that the induction of Azheto Chopi as Home Minister “particularly to initiate punitive measures on Purana Bazar residents who are without doubt mostly Sumis” and termed this as “a devious policy to foment hatred and division amongst Sumi people and to make Sumis own up responsibility of fatal consequences of IM’s intending vengeance”.

“Henceforth, in light of unfolding deceptive schemes at work, it is clarified that, any acts of IM Home Minister or for the matter Isak Swu, Qhevihe Swu or any other Sumi Kilonsers in the IM set-up should not be attributed to Sumi tribe”, Brig Sumi stated.
