Dimapur, June 7 (MExN): Residents of Hill View, Industrial Estate Colony, Lengrijan, Oriental, Duncan Bosti and Aokong Firing Range (formerly, Ao Khel) boycotted the EPIC photography session which was suppose to begin from today onwards in their sector. The move is against the declaration and change of nomenclature of polling station No 11 & 12 DC Court area Lengrijan as Industrial Village Razhuphe I & II and installation of “IVR house nos plate” in their locality. The Booth Level Officer (BLO) was not allowed to perform the photography session.
The public were ‘peacefully’ boycotting with banners which read “No village should fall under DMC ward-12”, “Common people voice of DMC ward -12”, “No to Razuphe, Yes to photography,” and “Go out land grabber TL Angami from DMC ward-12,” etc at the Urban Development office, behind DC Court Dimapur when allegedly T. L Angami and his supporters, roughly numbering to 50, according to a Hill View resident, were seen at the site. Chaos soon ensued when the public ‘chased’ them away.
The joint forum of the six colonies had applied for review of the change of the names of polling areas and for restoration of the original names to DC & District Election Officer & Electoral Registration Officer, Dimapur on May 31, 2011. Making available the memorandum to media, it stated that right from the inception of 2 Dimapur II Assembly Constituency, the names of polling areas in its Part No: 11 & Part No 12 have been rightly entered as “Lengrijan Court Area” in the electoral rolls and used as such throughout the past. The memo also stated that the claim of “Industrial Village Razhupe” by Mr. T.L Angami is only a fictitious village and it has neither government recognition orders nor any government notified survey map. Also, no court of law has ever held the so claimed village to be lawfully valid survey map binding the people at large. The memo also stated the changes of the names of Polling Areas have been done without any public notice and that only later a notice was published in a local daily on May 30, 2011 in view that implementation of EPIC and PER photo electoral would be carried out on the dates as notified therein.
It was also mentioned to media personnel that T.L Angami himself is a resident of Hill View Colony under DMC ward No 12 and his residential plot is covered by government patta No 1170, Dag No 79/1266 and Dag No 80/1267.
