Kohima, July 13 (MExN): Resolutions were adopted today during a joint coordination meeting held to discuss the management of Dzükou Valley and to provide regulatory guidelines so that tourists/trekkers do not get lost The meeting was held with different departments and stakeholders at SDO (C), Jakhama office.
According to a DIPR report, one of the resolutions was that tourists will be able to access Southern Dzükou through Jakhama and Viswema route only. The others included blanket ban on hunting activities in the Valley and to set up Dzükou Management Committee, which will bring out a blueprint with further consultations with all the stakeholders.
The meeting also discussed fresh trail mapping of routes along with stakeholders, identification of spots with phone signal and the mandatory use of guides by tourists from outside the State etc. Concerns relating to the maintenance and improvement of infrastructures and services available were also taken up with the Department of Tourism, the report said.
Convened by the SDO (C), Jakhama, the meeting was attended by DDMO Kohima, officials from Department of Tourism, Department of Forest, EAC Kezocha, SAPO, SAYO and other stakeholders.
