Respect the wishes of civil society: NSCN (IM)

Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): The NSCN (IM), Lotha region today advised the NSCN (K) faction to abstain from ‘all terrorist activities’ if they want to maintain peace and work for reconciliation and respect the wishes of civil societies. 

The Central Administrative Officer of the NSCN (IM), Lotha Region, Rengthungo Lotha, in a press release, alleged that in the latest incident in Mekokla village in Wokha district, there were reports of ‘tortures’ being meted out to the public by the NSCN (K) cadres. His statement comes in the backdrop of the recent factional incidents in Wokha district where some NSCN (K) cadres were killed.

Lotha said that the NSCN (IM) Lotha Region in recognition of the clarion call given by the NSCN (IM) leadership for peace and reconciliation, have been showing utmost restrain despite numerous provocations.

However, Lotha said that the NSCN (IM), on receiving ‘complains’ from the villagers, dispatched an investigation team to the village on June 13, who were challenged and fired upon by the NSCN (K) cadres. In retaliation four NSCN (K) cadres were killed, Lotha said. 

The NSCN (IM), Lotha Region CAO said that likewise in Doyang Hydro Electric Project areas on June 14 an investigation team on ‘similar complain’ were ambushed and in retaliatory fire another Khaplang cadre was killed.

In this regard, Lotha advised the NSCN (K) to, “abstain from all terrorist activities and respect the wishes and decision of the civil societies if they want to maintain peace and work for reconciliation”. 

Lotha also said that during their hours of prayer and fasting to find solution to hammer out the differences in the interest of the Nagas, the NSCN (K) cadres have castigated the NSCN (IM) “goodwill” by attacking its armed cadres and assassinating some members of the NSCN (IM) civil set-up in many part of Nagaland. 


Nevertheless, the NSCN (IM) Lotha Region CAO also shared the pain and sorrow of the bereaved family. 

“We also share our pain and sorrows of the bereaved family,” said Lotha and added, “The NSCN is not against the deceased to any individual, however, we are bound to do so as they have virtually acted against the Azah of the NSCN,” said Lotha.

In another separate press release, the MIP/NSCN (IM) today welcomed two former NSCN (K) cadres who joined the NSCN (IM) on June 12 last. 

The MIP disclosed the names of the two defectors as one Lt Visheto of Ghaspani village and Sgt/Maj Buhoto of Kuhuboto village. They brought along with them ‘M 16 and US Carbine each with huge ammunition,’ stated the release.

The release stated that the two defectors disclosed some intelligence report, in this regard the MIP stated that it is learnt that “actions of Khaplang in Nagalim are all conducted with the help of either by Indian army, IRB or Meitei militants.”

The release giving an instance of such collaboration of the NSCN (K) with other forces, alleged that on Vedupe Lasuh, a sub-inspector of IRB was injured by mistak from one of the Khaplang boys’ 9mm in Athibung Town, and alleged that the victim is now admitted in Zion hospital in Dimapur. The MIP alleged that the incident took place at Athibung town after the two persons got drunk at a party.  The release further alleged that the incident happened in knowledge of the concerned Battalion Commanding officer of the IRB at Athibung. 

In this regard, the MIP stated, “The NSCN will never tolerate with the one who collaborate with someone who stop the Nagas from becoming a free nation, which is worth thousands of Nagas lives.”
