Respite for students in Mon

Kohima | June 18 : The newly upgraded GHS Jaboka under Tizit sub-division, GHSS Tizit and GHSS Aboi under Mon district, was inaugurated by Minister for School Education & SCERT, Nyeiwang Konyak on June 15 and 16. GHSS Tizit and GHSS Aboi have been up-gradation for immediate functioning following the Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) request to the State government for immediate redressal for admission of Class 11 students during the academic session 2011-12. The State government has also approved post creation of post graduate teachers under RMSA for both the schools, and classes for Arts students will commence for both the schools from first week of July.
Speaking at the inaugural function in Jaboka, Konyak highlighted the developmental activities taking place under Tizit sub-division, including better road connectivity and school up-gradation as per the demands and wishes of the people. He urged people of the area to keep a sense of belonging of government properties and co-operation with the state government for all round development. 
Government inaugrates newly upgraded GHSS
During the inauguration of GHSS Tizit, Konyak maintained that the government had approved up-gradation of two GHSS at Tizit and Aboi, after he took up the matter with the State Cabinet. He said that the same was approved for post creation of PGT for both schools. Konyak reminded that during the Mon DPDB meeting on May 16, it was decided to move the government for immediate functioning of GHSS Aboi so that students from remote areas like Chen, Tobu and Aboi can avail higher secondary education facility.  
Konyak also said that GHS Aboi was approved for HSLC examination centre since 2007 and number of government schools has been approved for up-gradation. GHSS Aboi will be serve the purpose for many government high schools in the two sub-divisions including number of private school, the Minister said. He was also grateful to the team of officers at the government level and the directorate, under the able leadership of Commissioner & Secretary Imkonglemba for timely initiation and fulfillment of the demands of the people and for the progress of the department.
The minister urged the people of the Tizit area, public leaders and NGO’s to do away with the habit of criticizing and harbouring ill feelings towards the government. He also appealed public to come forward and co-operate with the district administration and departmental officers for checking land encroachment of government schools complexes. He also maintained that the long felt needs of secondary standard education have now come to their doorstep for which the student leaders and NGO’s should acknowledge the government, added Konyak.
Meanwhile, GHS Jaboka with enrolment of 75 students is currently being taught by GMS teachers. In this regard, the village education committee and Village Council submitted a memorandum to the minister for post creation and also for the construction of new high school building.
