DIMAPUR, MARCH 5 (MExN): The Rengma Hoho has asked the Nagaland State Government to initiate measures to restore the Rengma areas in Assam within the administrative control of the state.
Asserting that there is “no dispute of administration or border within the territory,” Rengma Hoho President Kenyuseng Tep, in a press statement on Saturday said the land should be restored to the land owners as the land belongs to the Nagas.
“Our lands are being encroached by Assam government and forcefully occupied by illegal infiltrators with the help of Assam government,” the Hoho alleged.
It also expressed concern over the disturbing attitude of the State Government that despite the Rengmas submitting enough documents on the issue, it remains in “dyslexia.”
Bringing out what it termed as the “fact of its history and territorial demarcations,” the Hoho highlighted that the Rengma boundary lie with Assam in the East with Golaghat and West Naogaon.
While clarifying that in no way is Rengma’s land disputed between Assam and Nagaland, the Hoho also pointed out that there is no legal documents proving that Rengma’s land is a disputed land between Assam and Nagaland.
“Our territories are geographically contiguous and are well defined. Our history is proved by our existence in the past and in the present which no authority can challenge,” it maintained.
Asking the Nagaland State Government to restore their land, the Hoho asserted, “We have every right to administer our own area.”
