Restore STO office at Mangkolemba: DC Mkg

Mokokchung, April 7 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Lithrongla G. Chishi has stressed on the need to restore the Sub-Treasury Office at Mangkolemba Sub-Division as it caters to the needs of the people of three ranges-Changkikong, Japutkong and Tzurangkong. Taking a serious note of the non-functioning of STO office during Power Point presentation on Mangkolemba Sub-Division at the monthly meeting of Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board at DC’s conference hall on April 7, 2011, Lithrongla lamented that due to absence of STO office at Mangkolemba, people are forced to travel to Mokokchung to get treasury transaction done. The STO Office Mangkolemba was temporarily shifted to Mokokchung during 1990s due to unstable law and order situation. Having considered the urgent need the members of the DPDB Mokokchung agreed to recommend the matter to the government.
During the presentation, ADC Mangkolemba, Temsu Longkumer informed the members that he has taken all necessary actions to put STO office functional at the earliest. He also highlighted present socio-economic, law and order, road scenario and economic potentials of the sub-division. He pointed out that there is an urgent need to focus on improving road sector in the sub-division saying the three ranges are far behind the rest of the district. Earlier the meeting recommended to the government for up gradation of Green Wood Kinder Garden School, Alichen to class VIII standard and Subong Government Middle School to High School Mongsenyimti.
The meeting also took a serious note of concern over Office attendance raised by Ao Students Conference. Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the District Administration would resort to surprise checking of offices, if attendance is not improved. The meeting also discussed the issues relating to the ensuing bye-election to 26-Aonglenden Assembly Constituency schedule to be held on May 7, 2011. Referring to an order issued by Election Commission, Deputy Commissioner cautioned government employees to stay from electioneering, as it is violation of the Rules. Lithrongla said government employees are not to involve in electioneering except performing election duty.
