Er Kahuli Sema, Engineer-in-Chief, NPWD addressing the Saptiqa Town Students’ Union 33rd annual session on December 28.

Zunheboto, December 29 (MExN): Saptiqa Town Students’ Union (STSU) kicked off its 33rd annual session under the theme ‘Rethinking socio-political, economic & educational context in Saptiqa Area: Challenges, aspirations and way forward’ with Er Kahuli Sema, Engineer-in-Chief, NPWD as special guest.
Addressing the event on December 28, the special guests expressed gratitude to the pioneers for establishing Saptiqa Town in the rich soil and magnificent landscape with greater vision, stated a press release issued by the STSU Media Cell.
While informing that Saptiqa Town is scheduled to celebrate 75 years anniversary of its establishment in January 2023, Sema said, “however, we must question ourselves of what have we achieved so far in terms of infrastructural development in the seven and half decades.” Due to severe lack of development at Saptiqa, comparatively, it cannot even be called a town, therefore, there is an urgent need of infrastructural improvement in the area, she remarked.
Sema also shared that during her student life, she had a close spiritual relationship with God, and thus, “God has answered her prayers by elevating her to where she is now to serve His people” and said that she still lives with the same faith with God and encouraged the students to put God first in life if they want to be successful.
Speaking on the theme, Sema said, ‘the foremost priority we should keep to attain a quality life is to emphasise on quality education by establishing good colleges, schools and other infrastructural development like roads, which is the urgent need at Saptiqa Town.’ “Whom we are going to rely on bringing such development in the region if not us?” she questioned and asserted, “Unless we produce strong quality leadership, Saptiqa Town and Atoizu Constituency will not progress.”
“It is only through strong political will that development process in Atoizu Constituency can be revived, and come at par with other regions,” she added.
Further, she stated that only after her formal request for the urgent requirement of construction of Saptiqa EAC Residential Quarter, it was approved by the District Planning and Development Board Zunheboto. The proposal is already put up on the government level, which she assured will be materialized soon.
On this concern, she urged the Saptiqa citizens to co-operate with the government and discouraged creating avoidable hurdles in any development activities in the region.
For the long awaited aspiration of people in the region for good road connectivity, Sema informed that the PMGSY road from Kandiniu to Saptiqa connecting Zunheboto district headquarter has been approved with all the necessary formalities for technical works, which was carried out during her tenure as Chief Engineer (R&B) NPWD (and Empowered Officer of PMGSY).
“This route would serve as the shortest route to the State Capital particularly for Saptiqa area,” she added and said that she has initiated several development programmes for Atoizu constituency which is in the pipeline.
Earlier, the special guest hoisted Saptiqa Town Students Union flag. The programme was chaired by Nguvito G Awomi, Advisor (SPKK), invocation was pronounced by Avisheli Yeptho, Associate Pastor Women, greetings was delivered by Vitolu Chophy, President of GBs Association Saptiqa Area and various indigenous performances were also presented. It concluded with vote of thanks by Hiboto I Swu (Union Director).
