Rev. Moa Longchari Cancer Foundation was dedicated here today by Nagaland Baptist Church (NBCC) general secretary Rev. Dr Zelhou Keyho at a function held at Baptist Mission Church Convention Centre, Kohima.

The vision of the foundation is to provide the best possible treatment for reducing the cancer mortality rate in Nagaland by providing access to medical treatment, financial assistance and counselling for the underprivileged and give them a chance to fight their illness.

The foundation will also collaborate with oncologists, hospitals and other volunteers to maximize the effectiveness of spreading awareness and treatment for patients.

“We have all experienced the pain of losing a loved one at some point in our lives and it is inevitable that there are people out there struggling to fight this fear,” said Khrienuo Moa, wife of Late Rev. Moa Longchari.

She said that “Our underlying mission is to minimize the battles lost unfought, we stand to ensure that cancer patients are provided with the medical attention required but not necessarily attained.”

This foundation is laid in memory of Late Rev. Moa Longchari, whose generosity has touched us in manners unknown; it is also a reminder that death could have a beautiful start, she added.

“To the world we had lost him to cancer, but he had only gone through the inevitable cycle of life. The outlook is to acknowledge that death is inescapable and will show up in all forms, but through his life we have learned that to overcome death is to simply embrace life. His life here on earth has met an end, but not his dreams,” she said.

She said that the impact of Late Rev. Moa’s journey has compelled “us to continue carrying the legacy of his unforgettable love .This foundation exists because of love: of love received and love discovered, and will continue to feed on it.”
Rev. Dr Keyho dedicated the foundation to the people in need and to the glory of God.

“In a world filled with suffering, pain and sorrow, a day such as this, the launching of Rev. Moa Longchari Cancer Foundation brings healing to our world,” said Rev. Dr Zelhou Keyho while speaking on the occasion.

It generates a ray of hope knowing that there are people in their sorrow and mourning care for other people. This is a situation where God turn our sorrow into joy, he said.

Rev. Dr Keyho said that Rev. Moa fought cancer in faith, faith in his personal lord and saviour and received spiritual healing and for him that is far better and more fulfilling than the physical healing. He has fought a good fight of faith and he has won the race.

The word cancer is a fearful, frightening word. We think of the end when we hear this word. But Late Rev. Moa Longchari’s family, has given us hope that cancer is not the end-life goes on, he said.

“We must thank Mrs Khrienuo Moa and the children and the rest of the family to celebrate the life of one who have touch our lives in one way or the other. We thank God for the heart they have for those who need love, care and compassion,” he said adding that such act of love and compassion will go a long way in bring hope and healing.
