Revenant FC was crowned champions of the 6th season of the Mokokchung Football League, securing their sixth consecutive title since the league’s inception. The team received the championship trophy and a cash award. New Ecclesia finished as runners-up and also received a trophy and cash prize.
The closing ceremony of the Mokokchung Football League (MFL) Season 6 was held at Aongza Ki, Mokokchung, on November 9, marking the conclusion of another successful season for players aged 35 and above.
Individual award winners included Talilepba (Revenant FC) as Best Goalkeeper, Tiayanger (Revenant FC) as Best Defender, Tongpangkokba (Revenant FC) as Best Midfielder, Moatemsu (New Ecclesia) as Player of the League, Arennungsang (Revenant FC) as Highest Goal Scorer with 30 goals, and Nova SC which received the Fair Play Award.
Vesupra Kezo, NPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, who also played for Nova SC, delivered the reflection address. Kezo commended the organizers and players for their dedication throughout the seven-month season and described the tournament as “full of action, passion, and friendship.”
He said that beyond competition, the league promoted fitness and camaraderie among participants and acknowledged the referees and sponsors, including Unique Bakery, for supporting the Player of the Match award throughout the season.
A major highlight of the evening was the launch of the 35+ MFL Vision League, a new initiative to promote grassroots football among children under 13 years of age. The Vision League trophy was officially unveiled by Assistant Commissioner Ajay Moktan, IAS.
Scheduled to begin at the end of November 2025, the youth league will feature six clubs—Rising Phoenix FC, Speedy Cheetahs, Mini Marvels, Tenacious Titans, Daring Dolphins, and Agile Avengers—in a 7-a-side format.
The launch also reflected on the league’s earlier grassroots coaching clinic held in June 2025 in collaboration with Barak FC, where 120 under-13 children trained under the guidance of Coach Brando.
Hosted by Dr. Imlinichet and mnatola, the programme also featured a welcome address by Aongsen Aier, Convenor of the 35+ MFL. A musical interlude was presented by Akümsen Lemtur and other musical performances.
