Reverse transfer of EAC HQ before August 13, TMPF urges state govt

Mon, August 9 (MExN): The Tobu-Mopong Public Forum (TMPF) has called on the State Government to intervene and reinstate the Mopong EAC headquarters under the administrative centre of ADC Tobu sub-division, before August 13.

In a press release issued through its Medial cell on Tuesday, the Forum recounted the long-standing demand of the people, and said that that it would “have no other option but to stand in solidarity with the call made by the Mopong-Hongkong Public Forum” and abstain from participating in the 75th Independence Day celebrations on August 15.

According to the Forum, all the necessary documents stating the public aspiration of Tobu and Mopong public by both Administrative officers and civil societies have been submitted to the State Government time and again since the year 2014 when Mopong EAC Hq was transferred under SDO (Civil) Angjangyang without consulting the public of both Tobu and Mopong.

Citing a notification (NO GAB-3/41/2003) issued on January 20, 2020, by Home Commissioner, Nagaland, it pointed out that a Committee for reversion of Mopong EAC Hq from Angjangyang SDO (C) Sub-Division to ADC Tobu Sub-Division was constituted, under the Chairmanship of Commissioner Nagaland along with the Commissioner & Secretary, P&AR as the Member Secretary, the Secretary, Home (GAB) and the Deputy Commissioner, Mon as the Members.

“Subsequently, a meeting was conveyed by the Chairman of the Reversion Committee at the Commissioner’s Chamber on February 4, 2020, where all the apex organizations from Tobu, Mopong and Angjangyang were invited to give our honest statement so that decision could be made after taking the views and opinion raised by CSOs in consideration,” it maintained.

However, so far, no positive response has been received, it lamented, while calling on the state government to intervene before August 13, failing which, the CSOs of Tobu would also abstain from the celebrations. “Further, we shall not be held responsible for any untoward incidents that may arise with regard to the same,” it added.
