
Appeals government to bring a permanent settlement to the unrest border disputes and reformation of old age relationship between the people of Assam and Nagaland
Dimapur, June 13 (MExN): With the state government finally conceding to fulfill the demands of the Ao Senden, the Youth Association of Nagaland (YAN) expressed hoped that the government would implement its assurance both in letter and in spirit.
YAN President, V. Hetoi Chishi in a press release stated that it is always pertinent to find means to bring neighbouring states into confidence and understanding, the nature of the Nagas to co-exist in peace and harmony. And thus 1972 Interim Agreement and 1979 Interim Agreement (28/01/1979, Shillong), (11/04/1979, New Delhi) between Assam and Nagaland be seriously reviewed or reframed with maximum streamline to check and balance the counterpart from further fraudulent actions and embezzlement.
Appreciating the Ao Senden for their undaunted move towards bringing a historic change for the betterment of our society, the YAN also attribute that the development activities for better transportation and communication is still lacking behind in many important part of the state. Therefore, decades old neglected Dimapur-Wokha-Mokokchung and Longleng-Mon road project has to be supported by all for expediting the project and timely completion of the same.
The YAN further stated that the concern authorities, villages, areas and the landowners to abstain from land compensation and come out with an exemplary support for the construction of the road without any disturbances. It also said that the question of curving a single lane carriageway to facilitate travelers is in no way the agenda to serve the purpose. Therefore, the government is expected to come out with the gigantic four lanes. The Association appeals to the government to be serious to bring about permanent settlement to the unrest border disputes and reformation of old age relationship between the people of Assam and Nagaland.
Further, YAN stated that the central government as well both Assam and Nagaland (tripartite agreement) would have to take serious account on illegal immigrants and illegal Adivasi settlers in the border areas, who are carrying out all the anti-social activities.
