Kohima, May 23 (MExN): A review meeting of the ‘Program and Activities’ under the National Health Mission (NHM), Nagaland was held at the Conference Hall of Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima on May 23. 

It was attended by Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, P Paiwang Konyak and V Kezo, Commissioner & Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Government of Nagaland, stated an update receibed here. 

In his remarks, P Paiwang Konyak, said that such kind of meeting gives the programmes the opportunity to express problems, concerns, where we come together and come up with solutions. Commenting on the financial challenges faced by most of the programmes, he said ‘financial allocations should be made as per the need and priorities of the various programme.’

Konyak seeks for timely sharing of activities updates from the different Programme Officers in the coming days so that everyone puts their heads together for the successful implementation of the health programmes in the State.

V Kezo in his address said, ‘we need to remind each other to stay focus.’ He reiterated on the importance of the Department in placing across issues of importance to the concerned Minister and the Commissioner & Secretary, so that they can actively get involve in taking forward activities that will benefit the Department. “As a fraternity the department needs come together, discuss issues, make efforts and have a clear vision and goal,” he asserted. 

Kezo also mentioned that health care management will now be as per the Indian Public Health Standard Norms (IPHS).

The Principal Director, Dr E Motsuthung Patton expressed appreciation to all the Programmes on their achievement so far. He appealed all the Program Officers present that, unless we achieve our targets and improve our indicators the State will not receive the complete funds from GoI and thus hamper the programme implementation. 

Dr Akuo Sorhie, Mission Director, NHM, Nagaland gave an overview of the Mission and the meeting was chaired by Dr Mereninla Senlem, State Program Officer, NHM. All the National Health Programmes made presentation on their achievement, strategies and challenges and further discussions were held.
