Kohima, November 11 (MExN): The review of major programmes and schemes of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India for all North Eastern States will take place on November 12 at Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema under the chairmanship of Manoj Ahuja, Union Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
Besides the Union Secretary, Abhilaksh Likhi, Additional Secretary and 7 other senior officers at the rank of Joint Secretaries and 10 supporting officials totaling to 19 from Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, will be attending the meeting.
About 40 senior officers of Agriculture & Horticulture Department from all the North East States have confirmed their participation in the review meeting.
The State Government, Department of Agriculture & Horticulture along with Director CIH Medziphema is coordinating to host the first ever monitoring/review meeting of Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, for the North East in a befitting manner in spite of the short notice and limited infrastructural facilities, we are working round the clock for the success of the programme.
On arrival, they will proceed to CIH Medziphema for the review meeting which will be followed by Dinner cum Cultural evening hosted by the State Government in honour of the visiting dignitaries.
All the honoured guests will be leaving the following day, according to Y Kikheto Sema, Agriculture Production Commissioner, Nagaland.
Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GoI in collaboration with Department of Horticulture and Agriculture, Government of Nagaland will jointly review and discuss on schemes of ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare implemented in North Eastern region which are National Mission on Edible oil – Oil Palm, National Mission of Edible Oilseeds, Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern region, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY), Formation and Promotion of Farmer Producers Organization(FPOs), National Bamboo Mission and National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM).
In the review meeting, different issues will be discussed in length for better implementation of the Central Sponsored Schemes and to harness the potential of horticultural crops, Oil palm expansion, Promotion of the Organic Farming and opportunities for establishment the Startup, Formation of the FPOs Marketing and Export opportunities in the North Eastern Region, said a press release issued by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
