Kohima, May 3 (MExN): A review workshop and research-extension interface meet on New Extension Reforms (ATMA) was held on April 30 last at Medziphema, SAMETI.
The workshop was well represented by Agriculture, Sericulture, Fisheries, Vet. & A.H.Horticulture, Land Resources and Soil & Water Conservation Departments that constitute ATMA Management Committee and Block Technology Team members of the three ATMA districts of Mokokchung, Kohima and Dimapur.
Each of the Project Directors presented progress reports on the implementation programmes in their respective districts including physical & financial achievement, a release received here said.
A significant achievement was the report and documentation of Innovative activities taken up by farmers/NGO’s such as the promotion of intercropping of ginger and dhianchia green manuring crop, control of thatch grass by cultivation of Sesamum , leaflet publication in local language to farmers , Liephie Jhum system ,Alder based Jhum system and indigenous agricultural tool practices.
Professor Imnayongdang, Dean, SASRD spoke on the role of SAU/Agriculture College in ATMA, while Dr.Anamika Sharma, Training Organiser, KVK, Dimapur delivered a power point on Interfacing ICAR with New Extension Reforms (ATMA) in the State context
Dr.P.K.Neog, Associate Proffesor, EEI, Jorhat and Dr.Sajib Bora, Asst.Proffesor, EEI, Jorhat presented PPP on Operationalization of SREP (Strategic Research Extension Plan) & ATMA (Agricultural Technology Management Agency)
The day long workshop was chaired by Dr.Supong Keitzar,Director of Agriculture & State Nodal Officer,ATMA .In his introductory speech, he stressed on the need for all departments involved in extension , the main machinery for development, to work together ,interacting fruitfully in order to benefit the farmers besides presenting a status review on ATMA programme in the State .
During the wrap up session, he further congratulated the Resource person for their excellent presentations and also thanked all participants and organizers for their active interaction and the organizers for the arrangement.
Altogether, 50 Officers & Functionaries attended the review workshop including A.Y.Ovung,Addl.Director of Agriculture,Officers, Scientist and lecturers from SASRD, Bio-Lab, Bio-Fertilizer, Agril.Soil Chemistry Lab, District Training Office and IETC, Medziphema.Working lunch, Tea, snacks were provided for all the participants.
