Revoke creation of Saramati region: YAA

Dimapur, October 26 (MExN): The Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) has extended its support to Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) and the Public Forum of Pungro subdivision in regard to the creation of Saramati region of 'NSCN (IM)' in Yimchunger area and termed the establishment of the region as “divide and rule policy”.

The YAA in a press note issued by its president L Shahoto Yimchungrü and general secretary Z Throngshe Yimchungrü stated that  the formation of Saramati region affects the student community and economic life of the Yimchunger people as it was done in the light of mass public opposition.

The note also stated that when Naga political talks at the highest level are going on, the 'NSCN (IM)' has failed to gain the support and confidence of the people at the grass-root level.

Moreover, it mentioned that despite several representations and memorandums submitted by the YTC, Public Forum of Pungro subdivision, GBs’ Union Pungro subdivision and other Yimchunger village councils to the NSCN/GPRN government for revocation of the Saramati Region but till date no action has been taken.

“…YAA appeals to the concern authority to revoke the creation of the so-called Saramati region in according to the will and wishes of the Yimchunger people at the earliest if at all the NSCN/GPRN is truly a people’s government,” it stated.
