Revoke fuel cess within 7 days: CNSA

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 17 (MExN): The Central Nagaland Students’ Association (CNSA) has given a 7-day ultimatum to the Nagaland Government to withdraw the cess on fuel. The CNSA informed this in a letter to the Nagaland Chief Minister on September 17.

The CNSA said that the additional taxes have burdened the common people during this pandemic.

“If ignored the voice of the people, CNSA will be compelled to take our own course of action. We appeal to the public to extend support and cooperation when sought for further course of action,” it appealed.

ZSUN, DRSU support DNSU demand
The Zeliangrong Students' Union, Nagaland (ZSUN) has extended its support to the demand of the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) to revoke the COVID-19 cess on fuel. A press release from the ZSUN President, Dithuibo Newmai and General Secretary, Adona Herie urged the State Government to immediately intervene in the matter and concede the genuine demand of the general public. Further, it appealed to the government to start redressing the hardship and adversity of the public and not to suppress the public anymore through the fuel cess.

The Dimapur Rengma Students’ Union (DRSU) also expressed its displeasure with the State Government over the COVID-19 cess on petrol and diesel.

A press release from the union’s President, Kvuchulo Khing and General Secretary, Michael Kath expressed surprise to see that the state government is trying to levy everything from the general public so that they can recover the expenses and also wondered where all the big amounts given by the centre were spent.

It asked the state government to immediately revoke this order for the betterment of everyone. Further, the union extended support to the DNSU for bringing out the matter into the limelight.
