DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 1 (MExN): The demand for immediate revocation of an order directing the shifting of the sub-division of the civil wing from Likimro Hydro Electric Project, and thereby retaining officers and staff at their station there, has been placed before Parliamentary Secretary for Power, H Doshehe Sema.
In an open letter addressed to him, the joint council of Moya and Salomi villages stated: “The present circumstances has provoked us to bring out the matters relating to shifting the sub-divisional establishments of civil wing of Likimro H E Project under Kiphire District to Atoizu.”
Recalling the shifting and redeployment of a sub-division to Aboi, the joint council said the move was “somehow tolerated” since it has an ongoing project there. “But now, coming to the case of Atoizu, we are very much surprised to learn that you are pulling the said sub-division of the civil wing which already exists in Zunheboto.
The village council feels that “all these attempts of pulling away the official set ups in our area to other places is an insult” to their public leaders and a “direct suppression upon our people in general, who are under the category of backward tribe of our state.”
The open letter also observed that the civil wing of the Likimro project has not accomplished several tasks such as completing the construction of the half-done Zungki Bridge, maintenance of Longmatra-Likimro road and most importantly taking up of the Tizu-Zungki Hydro Electric Project, which is under consideration by the government.
The joint council has put up 3 questions for Doshehe on whether “it is justified to create congestion in the jurisdiction of the government officers in your area by snatching set ups in backward areas like ours? Is the policy of uplifting the backward people not for us?”
