RHMS to hold ‘The Handshake Concert 2011’

Kohima | May 11 : Buoyed by the huge success of last three events, the Kohima based Rattle & Hum Music Society (RHMS) is all set to organize the fourth edition of “The Handshake Concert 2011” at Bangalore on June 21 as part of the World Music Day celebration.
Artist line up for the concert includes; Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (Grammy Award winner), Soulmate, Melodrama (winner of NSACS Rock Reach 2010), Divine Connection (Winner MTV Desi Beats 2011), Anuradha Pal- Rhythm Queen from Mumbai, Sathya- Chennai, Swarathma- Bangalore, Kenei Chalie and Krukusolü and Vetolü Lohe. The concert will be held in collaboration with Nagaland University, North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) and Tourism Nagaland, Mindlogicx and Rolling Stone including the event partners like Klas Enterprises, The Heritage, Unitex Inc, Wishing Well Foundation, Dream Café and Naga Students Union Bangalore as ground partner.
Addressing press conference here this morning at Dream Café, RHMS chief patron Khriehu Liezietsu said the handshake concert is a non-profit event with its chief goal to promote music and culture and goodwill among all citizens of the country. “And as the names suggest, we stand for bettering friendships and understanding among all people, and hope to achieve this objective- “one handshake at a time,” Liezietsu said.
The chief patron also stated that if all goes well according to plan, the RHMS plans to organize the next Handshake Concert in 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand. He stated that the RHMS give priority to Naga musicians as they believed that such platforms not only exposes local talents to a national audience, but creates a window for the rest of the country to discover and experience the rich culture and music of the people of Nagaland.
Theja Meru said that entry to the venue will be entirely free and the entry passes will be issued in Bangalore. The concert will take place at Chowdiah Hall, Bangalore from 6:00 PM onwards.
Meru said the Handshake Concert is being organized under the chairmanship of Prof. K. Kannan- vice chancellor Nagaland University and under the chief patronage of Khriehu Liezietsu, former vice chairman, Kohima Municipal Council.
