A rice godown located at Naharbari, Dimapur was sealed by the authorities on June 15 after a viral video clip showing that the go-down was allegedly mixing actual rice with ‘duplicate rice’ emerged on social media.
Police sources said they have taken suo moto cognisance of the issue but were however, awaiting results of the samples which have been collected and sent by the Food Safety officials. Sources said the sample results were likely to take around two weeks to be known.
No arrests have been made so far in connection with the case.
When contacted, food safety officials in Dimapur cited being occupied with work and did not provide details of the issue.
