Rijiju appraised on problem faced by State Home Guard Department

New Delhi, May 13 (MExN): EE Pangteang Konyak, Parliamentary Secretary for Home Guards and Sericulture, Nagaland met the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju at his resident New Delhi, to discuss the problem face by the Home Guard Department in Nagaland.  

Parliamentary Secretary appraised the Union Minister on the activities of the Home Guards and Village Guards in the state. Pangteang requested the Union Minister for enhancement of Duty Allowance for the Home Guards as per the Hon’ble Supreme Court Judgment Order. He also requested the Union Minister to look into the matter of Security Related Expenditure (SRE) refunding to the state, out of 965 members till date only 670 were taken care by the central and 295 were been pay by the state.   He also submitted a proposal for introduction of a special scheme viz, ‘Modernization of Home Guards in Nagaland’ on the line of the scheme for ‘Modernization of Police’.   DG Lungriading also accompanied the Parliamentary Secretary during the meeting.
