Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today assured that the 6th Central Pay Commission will be implemented in Nagaland. Replying to MLA Joshua Sumi on the floor of the House, the chief minister said the matter of adopting the 6th Central Pay Commission’s recommendations for the state government employees was presently under consideration with the government and a Pay (Fitment) Committee was already constituted for this purpose.
He also said that the state government did not have resources to meet the additional expenditure which will be involved in its implementation and so “we have already taken up the matter with the central government to provide assistance for this purpose.”
“It has been indicated that the issue would be considered sympathetically and a mechanism would be worked out to deal with the matter. As such, since when it will be implemented shall depend on the quantum of assistance that will be provided by the central government”, Neiphiu Rio said. He added that the basis of implementation shall be determined on the recommendation of the Pay (Fitment) Committee and also on the quantum of assistance to be received from the central government.
