The pre-Christmas celebration of Nagaland legislators took place here this evening at the State Banquet Hall and was attended by state Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, council of ministers, parliamentary secretaries, legislators, top government officials and various church leaders.
Stating that the elected representatives were more blessed to serve God through serving the people, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio stressed on the need to re-dedicate themselves in the service of the people and commit themselves to God.
Rio stated that only through Jesus Christ, ‘we will find true peace’. He also felt that the celebration will give the right mood for all to go back to their respective places and celebrate Christmas. Further, the Chief Minister greeted the people of Nagaland a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Additional chief secretary Alemtemshi Jamir, Rev. C. Lima from NBCC and Rev. Deo Vihienuo, state chaplain also spoke on the occasion.
Besides singing the hymn “Joy to the world” and “Silent Night, Holy Night,” the celebration also witnessed special numbers from Zeme Baptist Church youth, Kikruyalie and friends, Kenei, Kethoser Kevichusa UBC, Lotha Baptist Church youth, Konyak Baptist Church and Chakhesang Baptist Church youth.
Kusa Yitachu and N. Kitoli read out scripture verses while Rev. Dr. T.R. Angami, Superintendent, Assemblies of God said the invocation prayer. Rev. Moa Longchari, BMC led the congregation to a thanksgiving prayer and the programme concluded with a pre-Christmas feast.
