Rio conferred with Mother Teresa Millinium Award

DIMAPUR, APril 30 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio has been bestowed with the Mother Teresa Millennium Award by the Mother Teresa International & Millennium Committee for outstanding achievement and contribution in the field of politics. 

The award committee is under the auspices of the All India International Minority & Weaker Sections Council. 

Other recipients of this prestigious award for this year included Girija Prasad Koirala, Prime Minister of Nepal, Dominique Lapierre of France in the lifetime category, Saurav Ganguly, PK Banerjee and Joytirmoy Sikdar in Sports, Balram Jakhar, Governor of Madhya Pradesh in political field and industrialist Vijay Mallya.

Awards were given away to renowned personalities and imminent persons in the field of education, social work, art, culture medicine, political, industry, sports and political.

The patron-in-chief of the council is Justice Shyamal Sen, Chairman of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission, former Governor of West Bengal and former chief justice of the Kolkata High Court.

The awards were given away at Don Bosco School Auditorium, Park Circus, Kolkatta with Rev. Fr. Michael Bhaju, Vicar-General, Archdiocese of Kolkata was the guest of honour.

Rt. Rev PSP Raju, Bishop of Kolkata inaugurated the ceremony with Justice Shyamal Sen presiding over the event.
