Rio Govt. flays NC Hills carnage

Dimapur, June 17 (MExN): The Nagaland government today flayed the killing of 12 persons, including minors and women and the razing  of another Naga village in Assam’s North Cachar Hills.  Reports yesterday said armed cadres believed to be of the DHD (J) killed the Naga villagers, “The state government and the chief minister express its utmost concern for the ongoing violence in NC Hills which has taken the shape of ethnic cleansing resulting in a serious humanitarian crisis,” the CM stated in a message received here from press secretary Abu Metha.

The chief minister lamented that the matter has been broached with the prime minister, the Union Home minister and the Assam chief minister but that the innocent people of NC Hills continue to suffer in the hands of the armed cadres.  The CM said relief and rehabilitation to those who have been affected by the systematic violence is urgently required on the part of the Assam and central governments. “The Nagaland Government has been arranging relief and rehabilitation to those people who have escaped into Nagaland for their own safety but the situation is on the verge of becoming uncontrollable if the present circumstances are allowed to continue,” the CMO stated.
