Dimapur, July 24 (MExN): A unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has asked the Government to “immediately maintain” the already deteriorating condition of roads in Dimapur. The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) of Dimapur district issued a note today saying that the government must not be satisfied with “something is better than nothing.”
The BJP unit has demanded that the State government “immediately maintain the roads” in Dimapur, “which is in a sorry state of affairs, with thousands of large pot-holes all over the breath and length in the main highway and the roads.” The authorities must “repair the pot-holes properly with concrete black toping and not just filling up with mud and sand gravels as it is enough for a single rainfall to make it worse.” ‘Something is better then nothing’ is not a solution for the roads in Dimapur, the BJP unit stated. “It is so sick to drive in the roads of our only commercial hub of our state, which is better off walking then to sit in a car as it is confusing where to put the tires on.
The roads are further more damaged due to the poor drainage system in the town, as almost all the drainage is clocked.” The party’s unit emphasized as “very necessary” the maintenance of drainage system “for upkeep of public hygiene as well as protecting its impact on the roads.”
The BJYM has also appealed the department of Power and the district administration to strictly check the “almost falling rusted electric poles that is causing grave danger to the people.” Likewise, trees that are in contact with live wires as it not only causing danger to the public “but also creating constant power cuts” the BJP unit said. The tress must be felled and other things in direct contact with the live wires must be removed while outdated electric poles must be replaced, the party stated.
“It is already high time that such negligence is still to be seen in the so called the largest and most developed city of our state, and such a shame to know the stark reality of our most cherished the one and only city of our state,” the unit’s president K Vikuho Dominic Sema stated in the press release.
