Rio to launch Nagaland Tourist Police on Nov 26

Kohima, November 23 (MExn): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will formally launch the Nagaland Tourist Police on November 26 at PHQ, Kohima.  

Nagaland will be the 2nd state in the North East to launch Tourist Police for maintaining the safety and security of the tourists during Hornbill Festival, starting from December 1.  

Nagaland Police along with state’s tourism department carried out training programe for tourist police this week.   The Tourist Police will have a total strength of 73 with 50 women personnel (15th IRB) and 23 male personnel (DEF Kohima).  

Tourist Police has been introduced to protect and serve the tourists, to build up confidence of tourists, to create hassle free and memorable stay, to avoid any harassment to the tourists and to help the tourists on matters relating to passport, VISA, currency exchange.
