
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio prepares to lay a wreath at DImapur Airport on Friday
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 7 (MExN): The news of the passing away of ZM Sekhose President Tenyimi People’s Organization (TPO) witnessed outpouring of grief and sadness as several people led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and other organizations offered condolences. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio described Late Z. M. Sekhose as a “typical Naga elder who upheld Naga traditions and customs and lived a life which was exemplary, especially for the younger generations”. “He always stood for honesty and would go to great lengths to ensure the triumph of justice. I have had an intimate and close relationship with him for many years and he was like an uncle, an elder brother and a close friend in all these years. He always gave sound advice during crucial times as he was a man of principle and integrity. His death is a personal loss to me and my family”, Rio stated in his condolence.
In his death, the CM stated that Naga society has lost a true leader who represented the epitome of being a true Naga and a son of the soil. “His death is a great loss to Naga society, especially to the Angami tribe and the Tenyimi community”, Rio stated while expressing deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
In another condolence message TR Zeliang Minister Planning & Coordination, Evaluation, Vety & Animal Husbandry, Parliamentary Affairs while expressing shock and grief stated that his untimely demise had left a huge vacuum in the “contemporary socio-political arena”.
“He remained committed to the political and social causes and his tenure as TPO president was remarkable in writing new equations in the harmonious coexistence and intellectual manner of handling issues”, stated the condolence message.
Further in “upholding the rights of the Nagas, he left no stone unturned as the head of the umbrella organization of ten Naga tribes and was a crusader”, the condolence stated while adding that Lt. Z.M. Sekhose has left at the most crucial time in the Naga history and certainly the roles he had played in the traditional phases will be always remembered.
The Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and Tenymei People’s Organisation and joined them in the prayer for the peace of the departed soul.
Former Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee President and sitting Congress MLA KV Pusa in his condolence described Sekhose as a leader with clear cut vision who ceaselessly worked for Naga cause throughout his life. Pusa stated that late Sekhose’s dealings with various organizations in his capacity as organizational head were commendable. “Truthfulness, honesty and transparency are his trademark. He contributed so much for the welfare and well-being of the Nagas during his lifetime”, Pusa stated while pointing out that in his demise Nagas have lost a fine gentleman and a true Naga patriot and a friend of downtrodden. “His loss will be deeply felt by many and would be difficult to replace in years to come”, Pusa stated and conveyed his deepest sympathy and grief to the bereaved family.
The Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland through its General Secretary, Azeu Namcyn Hau has conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members in particular and the Tenyimi people in general and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. The Baudi prayed that the Almighty God give them the strength at this hour of grief. The Zeliangrong Baudi stated it would pay its last respect to their departed leader at the Funeral service to be held at 1 PM, tomorrow at Kohima.
