Emphasis given on need to bring all round development, early political solution
New Delhi, March 18 (MExN): Nagaland State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton along with their Cabinet colleagues comprising Minister for Agriculture Cooperation G Kaito Aye, Minister for Transport Civil Aviation and Land Resources P Paiwang Konyak, and Minister for Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue Neiba Kronu called on various leaders at the Centre in New Delhi from March 15 to 17. The delegation was also accompanied by President NDPP Chingwang Konyak, President BJP Visasolie Lhoungu, Working President NDPP Alemtemshi Jamir, and Convenor BJP Nagaland M Chuba Ao.
During their meeting with the Central leaders, the Chief Minister and his delegation emphasised on the need to bring all round development with investments in infrastructure and economic growth, according to a press release from Kuolie Mere, PRO, IPR New Delhi, Government of Nagaland. The team also expressed strong desire of the people of Nagaland for lasting peace and the need to bring an early political solution through the ongoing political dialogue and peace process, it added.
The delegation had called on the President of India Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi on March 16.
On March 15, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio along with the State team met several leaders, including the Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, and Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, the release informed.
The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland along with Dr DK Bhalla, CRC Nagaland House Delhi also had an appointment with the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan in New Delhi on March 15.
Neiphiu Rio and Y Patton further called on the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Arun Jaitley the same day.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio along with the delegation met with the Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri on March 16.
The Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, BJP Nagaland President, and NDPP President met with Amit Shah, BJP President in New Delhi on March 16.
Rio met the Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jitendra Singh on March 17.
Rio and P Paiwang Konyak also had a meeting with the Union Minister for Food & Civil Supplies Ram Vilas Paswan. The delegation called on the Vice Chairman NITI Aayog Dr Rajiv Kumar. Further, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio met RN Ravi, Interlocutor on March 17.
Rio along with the cabinet colleagues and BJP Nagaland President also had a meeting with the BJP North East In-charge Ram Madhav in New Delhi on March 17.
