
KOHIMA, JUNE 20 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the Janata Dal (United), Nagaland, have expressed grief over the demise of Phonglou Chang, father of Cabinet Minister P. Bashangmongba Chang, who passed away after a prolonged illness.
In his condolence message, Chief Minister Rio said he was deeply saddened to learn of the minister’s loss. “On behalf of the Government of Nagaland and my family, I extend my heartfelt condolences to you and your family during this difficult time,” Rio stated.
He described the late Phonglou Chang as a man of enduring strength and quiet resilience, and prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family. “May the Almighty grant you and your loved ones the strength to bear this profound loss, and may his soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton, in his condolence message described late Phonglou Chang as a respected elder in Tuensang, remembered by many for his quiet contributions to community life over the years.
“His presence will be missed by all who knew him,” the Deputy Chief Minister stated.
The Naga People’s Front (NPF) described the late Phonglou Chang as a respected elder whose life of humility, wisdom, and quiet strength would be fondly remembered.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Hon’ble Minister and the bereaved family during this time of grief. May the Almighty grant them comfort and strength to endure this difficult time, and may the departed soul rest in eternal peace,” it stated.
The JD (U), Nagaland, also conveyed its condolences to Minister Bashangmongba Chang and his family. In a message, the party expressed deep sorrow and prayed for peace and strength to endure the irreparable loss.
The party said late Phonglou Chang would be fondly remembered for his wisdom, humility, and the values he upheld. “His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him,” the JD (U) stated.
