Rio questions Congress pol stand on Naga issue

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 8 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister today questioned the political stand of the Congress in Nagaland saying that their election manifesto of the Congress has no clarity of clear commitment on the Naga political issue. Rio was addressing election rallies at Chazuba under Phek district and at Tseminyu sub-division, informed a press note from Abu Metha NPF Press Secretary.

Rio also said that the Congress manifesto commits to extend cooperation to all sections of the Naga community for honorable political commitment and therefore it means that they have not been extending cooperation to all the sections till now, he said.
He also commented that the Congress manifesto has dedicated only three lines in the entire book to the Naga political problem and there is no real commitment and only makes a vague statement.

He also cited the statement of Congress President Soina Gandhi who had stated that the Congress will bring early political solution but questioned what the Congress was doing for ten years. There is no clarity or clear commitment from the Congress.  However the NPF manifesto has given a clear commitment and sincerity of the party on the political issue and much of the manifesto is dedicated to the political issue.

He also questioned “why they have not given any commitment to pave way for political solution”. It means that their drama of resignation was only a false commitment with negative intentions of fooling the people, the chief minister stated.

Rio also welcomed the statement of the Naga Students Federation (NSF) who had urged the Prime Minister to come to Nagaland with clarity on the Indo-Naga peace process. He however termed as unfortunate that the PM could not visit Nagaland even once despite several invitations from the State government and even from the Governor, but was visiting only during election season.

The Chief Minister addressed two election rallies today at Chazuba under Phek district and at Tseminyu sub-division. At both the rallies he expressed confidence that the NPF would come back to power with absolute majority and provide stable government with accelerated development and economic progress.
