Kohima, March 4 (MExN): The office of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party–Bharatiya Janata Party (NDPP–BJP) Chief Ministerial candidate has refuted a quote attributed to Neiphiu Rio that the “Naga Peace Agreement will be signed on August 10,” which appeared in a section of the media and is being widely circulated on social media platforms. “Such ‘news’ items are bereft of any truth and far from the ethics of journalism as Neiphiu Rio has never made any such statement on any occasion or in any interview and therefore, this false report is only meant to mislead the people,” the office stated in a press release. Maintaining that the Naga political issue is a sensitive issue, it requested all to “refrain from concocting and circulating such fabricated reports without verifying the same as it is not in the interest or welfare of the people.”
