Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today called upon all Naga officers to have a broader vision for all round development of the state. Addressing the annual day of the Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (AGOK) at the Indira Gandhi Stadium here this afternoon, Rio, while reminding that economy is the backbone of any society, said development by the government alone will not do and that development will also have to come from the individual. He advised the people to use assistance such as loans, subsidies, etc wisely to build up own economy.
Exhorting the Angami officers, Rio also insisted that there should also be a change of mindset among the Angamis, pointing out that Angamis focus on engineering, medical and other technical lines of study and advised to go for civil services in other places.
Agreeing with Classic Club’s maxim ‘Kohima is the mirror of Nagaland’, Rio said there is a need for a concerted effort to bring about positive changes. He also suggested that prizes be given to the cleanest colonies in an effort to spread cleanliness awareness.
Congress MLA K.V Pusa, former MLA Seyiekuolie Kesiezie and APO President Mhiesizokho Zinyü also exhorted the gathering while MLA Rokonicha and a host of senior government officers were also present on the occasion.
AGOK president, Daso Paphino chaired the function. N. Putsure, IAS Advisor AGOK delivered the welcome address while Mhalezothie Khezhie read out the general secretary report. Special numbers and folk song were presented by Methaneilie Solo, Linda Solo and Keneiü Sachü and friends respectively. Pele Khezhie led the participants in a breathing exercise.
