DIMAPUR, APRIL 3 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday sought the support and cooperation of the Administrative Heads of Department (AHoDs) and Heads of Department (HoDs) in enhancing the quality of life of the citizens.
According to a DIPR report, the chief minister while addressing the AHoDs and HoDs at the Secretariat Conference Hall said the PDA government came to power with lots of promises, but without the support and cooperation of the government officers, all the promises made cannot be achieved.
‘We should not serve ourselves but collectively serve our people,’ the chief minister noted while calling for re-inculcating work culture and maintaining punctuality, working with accountability and transparency to fulfill the commitment and promises of the Government and improve and enhance the life of the people.
The chief minister pointed out that the role played by the entire Government departments is important while urging the officer to set a benchmark through appraisals of the activities highlighted in the Department’s website for transparency and accountability.
Touching on the issue of good governance, the chief minister said every department should set a target and follow the same as a challenge. All Government servants to link their service with their Aadhaar card to do away with ghost, double or triple employees, he said.
Advisors appointed after wide legal consultations
Dwelling on the question of office of profit, the chief minister maintained that Advisors were appointed in various departments after thorough consultation with legal luminaries. Their talents, expertise and experience will contribute towards the development of the departments, he said seeking fullest cooperation of all the departments to the Advisors.
Symbolic issues prolonging talks
On the Naga political issue, the chief minister said non settlement of some symbolic issues has been prolonging the Naga Political issue even after dialogues and peace process for over 23 years. Sooner or later settlement will come, he said calling on the unity of the Nagas for the same to happen. He further apprised that the Centre for Peace and Non Violence will be created, for the same purpose. It will be headed by Non-Governmental intellectual - experienced and unbiased, who will come above individualism, tribalism, and work with Nagaism in mind, he noted.
Timely and quality works
While pointing out that road is the face of the State the chief minister said 50 crores have been sanctioned for immediate repair of roads in Kohima and Dimapur which will be done by the concerned department. Cautioning the department deliver quality works, he pointed that any concern citizen can file complain or report if the works are not up to mark. Besides a proposal to create a special road from secretariat to assembly road, he assured strict monitoring of the ongoing 4-laning works between Kohima and Dimapur.
He also informed that a Technical Committee and High Level Committee headed by him have been set up to ensure timely completion of big ongoing projects. There will be annual assessment of every Government Department basing on which, a department will be evaluated awarded as best performing or worst performing department, he added.
Rio also stated that very soon the common minimum program of the PDA government will be released.
