
DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 17 (MExN): The Riphyim Catholic Youth Association held its golden jubilee on December 15 and 16.
The opening ceremony of the celebration was held on December 15 at Don Bosco School Campus, Riphyim Village. Elonbeni Patton hosted the ceremony which started with a prayer by Lawrence Ezung, former President, RCYA; and the unveiling of the jubilee flag by Rev Fr Manu CST, Centre Incharge.
Rev Fr John NtonseYanthan blessed the Jubilee Hall by cutting the ribbon. Michael Kithan, President of RCYA gave the welcome address to the congregation. K Furhesie Nyuwi, ADC Wokha and President of Lotha Catholic Youth Association who also attended the jubilee celebration conveyed their jubilee greetings and congratulated the RCYA for achieving the 50 years milestone.
Rev. Fr. Jojo Varakukalayil was the main Celebrant on the first day of the 50 years jubilee celebration. In his homely, he talked about repentance and forgiveness as the Riphyim Catholic Youth Association celebrates its golden jubilee. He also encouraged the community to spread love during this jubilee and asked for God's blessings by living a faithful life.
The second day commenced with the blessing of the Jubilee Monolith by Most Rev Dr James Thoppil Bishop of Kohima Diocese followed by processing to the Jubilee Hall. Martin M. Ngullie hosted the Eucharistic Celebration. Aremo Patton, Jubilee Convener addressed the faithful people with a Jubilee Greetings. He thanked God and the community for achieving this milestone of 50 years golden jubilee. Dr Lowrence Kithan, President, NCYM; and Johnny Ruangmei, President CAN conveyed Jubilee Greetings and encouraged the youth to increase and strengthen their faith.
Most. Rev. Dr. James Thoppil began his Homely by reflecting on the theme and encouraging the youth to increase their faith. He quoted on St John Paul’s reflection on youths that, "Faith is strengthened when it is shared". “Youth is the hope of tomorrow and encouraged the youth to live a principle of true Christian faith. To live a faith not only in the Church but also in the social life and in the community,” he said. He likened the youth as salt that adds flavor and light that brightens the dark.
The vote of thanks was delivered by M Pidemo Humtsoe, Jubilee Secretary followed by a Jubilee Feast.
