Rise in Doyang Reservoir water levels

Wokha, August 8 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Wokha and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Vineet Kumar, IAS, has issued a public advisory in light of the continuous rainfall affecting the Doyang River's catchment area. The heavy inflow of water has resulted in a significant rise in the water level at the Doyang Reservoir, which is expected to reach its Full Reservoir Level if the current trend persists.

To manage the situation, the authorities have announced that the radial gates of the Doyang Dam will be opened to release the excess water in a controlled manner. This operation will result in additional water flowing downstream of the Doyang Power House, potentially increasing water levels in the Doyang River. The Deputy Commissioner has urged the public to avoid activities in and around the downstream areas of the Doyang River and the Foothill region. Residents are advised to refrain from bathing, swimming, fishing, camping, or engaging in any other activities along the riverside during the period when the radial gates are open.
