Kohima, October 10 (MExN): Even as the COVID-19 pandemic has affected normal lives, businesses, employment and social life, Nagaland has seen a surge of home based business through the help of digital and social media platforms. From home based takeaways, bakeries, tailors, beauty services and more, more young people are exploring doing businesses from home at minimal cost.
Edu NorthEast Pvt Ltd, an online education company has been at the forefront of this push, stated a press release issued by EduCentre, Nagaland.
Asanu Hibu from EduCentre shares, “we launched entrepreneurship and finance online classes over zoom and had 50 young people sign up for the classes in the first month. We expect to work with 300+ young entrepreneurs by December 2020.”
Mimi Murry, who was part of the entrepreneurship programme states that running a business from home has never been easier. “All we need is a smart phone. It is cheaper, faster and we get instant customer feedback,” Murry said while adding, “EduCentres classes were extremely helpful because I am from science background and have no idea but the classes helped me understand the basics of business.” Murry also informs that she plans to launch a kids store online in October.

“With problems come opportunities and I see more digital interactions in the near future. I am also glad that start ups can access to entrepreneurship classes online through companies like EduCentre. These small businesses create self employment and contribute to the self reliance of individuals and families and the state,” Chongloi observes.
