RO asks INC candidate from Dmp III to file FIR

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 22 (DIPR): The Returning Officer for Dimapur III A/C today issued a statement in response to allegations made by Lun Tunglung, INC candidate, 3 Dimapur-III on violation of Fundamental Rights and RPA Acts under 3 Dimapur III.

The RO, in her response, stated that inducement of voter with money, materials or use of threat to vitiate election is an election offence. However, the RO stated that there is no substantial evidence submitted to this claim in the complaint.

Maintaining that it is the aim of ECI and election machinery to ensure one man one vote, the RO informed that the commission continues updation of the E-roll through exercises such as NERPAP, NERP etc., are done. Further the Polling Officers in the presence of your polling agents at all polling stations shall verify the antecedents of all voters before allowing any persons to vote. “Besides, no such report of booth capturing plan or to kidnap any election agents is received from any intelligence sources till date,” the RO added.

It was also informed that information on use of web casting camera, VVPAT, EVM, etc are widely published so as to educate and inform all voters through use of videos, Radio, Posters, Banners, print advertisement, VVPAT demonstration in the villages/wards etc. by the office of CEO, DEO, AERO, Supervisors, Sector Officers, SWEEP campaign, etc.

The RO therefore felt that sufficient effort has been undertaken to alley any misinformation on the use of such devices.

The RO also said that the DC & DEO Dimapur has issued statements informing all citizens on the legal penalties of booth capturing and cautioned that the district administration is making all necessary arrangements to ensure secrecy of the vote by elector and shall take all necessary steps to conduct credible election.

She meanwhile informed there is no report received from any established source on the involvement of Naga national political groups in this election till date.

In light of this, the RO has requested the person concerned to file FIR to the nearest Police Station and submit the FIR report along with evidence(s) such as verifiable document, photographs, videos, witness, etc., to validate/support his complaint for future necessary action.
