Authorities have cautioned RO or Reverse Osmosis water plant operators in the Kohima, Wokha, Phek, Kiphire, and Meluri districts to comply with food safety regulations.

Kohima, November 11 (MExN): The Food Safety Administration of Kohima Zone has issued a notification reminding RO or Reverse Osmosis water plant operators in Kohima, Wokha, Phek, Kiphire, and Meluri districts to comply with food safety regulations as outlined under the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006 and the Food Safety & Standards Regulations of 2011. Sale, manufacture, or exhibition for sale of packaged drinking water is permitted only under a Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Certification Mark. Furthermore, Section 31 of the 2006 Act mandates that all Food Business Operators (FBOs) must obtain the required license or registration before beginning operations. This reminder follows a government notification, issued on July 3.
