Mizoram Chief Minister, Zoramthanga said that his "government is taking ‘swift actions’ to usher in development" in Mizoram. Zoramthanga said this while addressing a function organized jointly by local council and joint NGOs of Ramhlun Venglai to felicitate him yesterday.

According to Zoramthanga, the Mizo National Front (MNF) government will give priority to road and infrastructure development "as they are the main parameters of development". The Chief Minister also said that national highways and state highways have been surveyed and the government will take "swift measures" to repair and reconstruct deplorable roads before the rainy season.

“As development highly depends on good roads and good infrastructure, we have identified some sections of national highways and state highways so that they are repaired and resurfaced before the rainy season. We will begin work soon,” the Chief Minister stated.

Zoramthanga along with engineers and experts also inspected Vaivakawn and Bawngkawn junctions in Aizawl yesterday for construction of a fly-over bridge in the area.

The Chief Minister then expressed his concerns about the rising drug abuse cases in the state. Zoramthanga said that massive efforts will be taken up to combat the menace of drug abuse, and that, the "state government has already identified some areas where centres would be set up for addicts". He reiterated that the government stands for prohibition and would take massive efforts to augment the state’s economy.
