After traversing through one of the most ‘challenging’ roads in the state on the fourth day of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra (BJNY), Congress Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi today asserted that the condition of the roads is 'injustice' to the people of Nagaland.
"To have to drive through these roads is an injustice to the youngsters and old people of Nagaland. It is a betrayal to the people of Nagaland,” he stated, addressing a crowded public rally in Mokokchung's town square on January 17.
“How are we expecting to bring a positive future to the young people of Nagaland through these roads?” Gandhi posed.
Addressing the poor road conditions, erratic power supply, and healthcare, Gandhi questioned how young Nagas could compete with their counterparts in the rest of the country under these conditions. "This road is injustice to the people of this town," he reiterated.
According to the Congress leader, that is what the BNJY is about - to bring attention to the entire country of the people who are not part of the development that is taking place.
It must be noted here that Gandhi’s entourage, on Wednesday, proceeded from Chukitong to VK town early in the morning before reaching Mokokchung.
The National Highway-2 (erstwhile NH-61) after crossing Doyang Bridge in Wokha towards VK Town, then to Mokokchung is one of the most challenging roads in the State. Works for its upgradation till Tuli Town are still undergoing.
