Rockslide debris cleared, traffic resumes on NH- 29

Vehicle traffic on the National Highway (NH) – 29 along the Patkai Bridge-Kukidolong stretch has been fully restored, stated an official update from the police today. 

“Vehicle traffic fully restored at the rock slide affected area near Chümoukedima Police check gate on NH 29,” the Dimapur Police informed in the update on Twitter.     

The NH was blocked on the evening of December 13 after a rockslide re-occurred along the stretch near Chümoukedima Police check gate, Dimapur affecting vehicular movement. The police then informed that the rockslide occurred around 5:00-5:30 pm in between the Chümoukedima police checkpost and the Chathe river irrigation dam.

The rockslide was suspected to have been the after effect of blasts for the Dimapur-Kohima 4 lane road project currently underway. The police described the debri from the slide as quite extensive and that it would likely take the entire night to clear it. 

On Tuesday morning, the police said that vehicle has been traffic fully restored.
