RoP for politicians; DAN moves salary bill

Minister for Planning & Coordination TR Zeliang today moved the ‘Nagaland salaries, allowances and other facilities of the chief minister, other ministers, speaker, leader of opposition, deputy speaker, parliamentary secretaries and other members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and pension for ex-members (First Amendment Bill, 2010)’ in the floor of the House.

The bill said that Section 4 of the Act read with section 9 and Schedule I provide for increase in salary, allowances and other facilities of the chief minister, other ministers, Speaker, Leader of Opposition, Deputy Speaker, Parliamentary Secretaries and other MLAs.

The Section 4 read with provision in Schedule II provides for increase in pension of ex-members. “On account of increase in salaries, there will be an additional recurring expenditure of Rs. 1802000 p.a. On account of increase in Pension for about 135 ex-MLAs there will be an additional recurring expenditure of approximately Rs. 24624000 p.a. on account of family pension for about 95 family pensioners, there will be an additional recurring expenditure of Rs. 4560000 p.a,” the financial memorandum said.

Accordingly the total additional expenditure for this year will be approximately Rs. 30986000 All this expenditure will be incurred from the consolidated fund of the state.”
