Rotary Club of Dimapur Celebrates International Literacy Day

Dimapur, September 22 (MExN): The Rotary Club of Dimapur commemorated International Literacy Day by organizing a speech competition at the Pranab Jubilee Auditorium. 

The event, held on Saturday, saw enthusiastic participation from students of various prominent schools, reflecting Rotary's global initiative to promote literacy throughout September, observed as Literacy Month.

Monoj Bhattacharjee, President of the Rotary Club of Dimapur, extended his appreciation to the principals, teachers, and students of the participating schools for their active involvement. The event was chaired by SP Dutta and supported by RS Paneswar, OP Gupta, Bothra, Pradeep Jain Jr, and Club Secretary Sanjay Dhar.

Twenty students competed in the speech contest, divided into two categories. In Group A, Hari Debnath of Class 10 from S.D. Jain School secured the first prize, while Olemnaro Aier of Class 9 from Living Stone International School took the second place. In Group B, Hilina Rashid from S.D. Jain School won the top prize, with Moarenba N. Kitchu, also from S.D. Jain School, finishing second.

SP Dutta, Chairman of the program, expressed his gratitude to all who contributed to the event's success, especially acknowledging the judges: Dr. Sanjukta Bhattacharjee, Ajit Singh, Vice Principal of Public College, and Rosy Gogoi.

The event was a resounding success, promoting literacy and enhancing public speaking skills among the students. Winners were presented with mementos, certificates of appreciation, and small gifts as tokens of encouragement.
