
Dimapur, May 5 (MExN): Rotary Club of Dimapur transformed Government Middle School (GMS) Veterinary Colony into a Happy School under its flagship programme of Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM).
The club constructed boundary wall, main gate, provided running water facility to the toilets, proper handwashing station, and filtered drinking water facility in the school, informed a press release from the club president, Vijay Sharma. Shoes, socks, and sports equipment were also distributed to the school students.
The school was inaugurated as a Happy School by the chief guest, PDG Chandu Agarwal, a national member of RILM in the presence of school teachers, students, CLCC RTN Sanjay Jain and other Rotary members.
The release mentioned that Rotary International under its RILM task force has converted more than 2000 government schools into Happy Schools. The effort is to reduce the rate of dropouts and encourage students to come to school, it added.
