RPF continues crackdown on smuggling across NFR zone

MALIGAON, NOVEMBER 16 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force of Northeast Frontier Railway reported continued action against smuggling activities across the region, stating that 37 persons were apprehended in October 2025 for involvement in the smuggling of narcotics and other contraband valued at approximately Rs 9,40,79,933.

According to NFR, the RPF of New Coochbehar recovered 37.1 kg of unclaimed ganja worth Rs 3.71 lakh at New Coochbehar Railway Station on November 13. The items were handed over to OC/GRP/New Coochbehar for necessary action.

On the same day, joint teams of RPF and GRP from Agartala and Lumding recovered 23.61 kg of ganja worth Rs 2.36 lakh at Agartala and Lumding railway stations. The recovered items were handed over to the respective OC/GRP.

Similarly, on November 12, RPF teams from Dharmanagar, Agartala and Rangapara North recovered 50.51 kg of ganja worth Rs 5.05 lakh at Dharmanagar, Agartala and Rangapara North. These items were also handed over to the respective OC/GRP.

NFR stated that it “commends the dedicated efforts of RPF personnel across various posts and their effective coordination with GRP and Customs authorities, ensuring the safety of railway premises and curbing illegal activities within its jurisdiction.”
