RPF crackdown on pan-India illegal e-ticket software racket

Guwahati, FEBRUARY 19 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been able to successfully crackdown a pan India organised racket which used illegal softwares, an official release informed today. 

 


Illegal softwares such as such as 'ANMS', 'MAC' and 'Jaguar' were used to to bypass the IRCTC’s login captcha, booking captcha and bank OTP to generate tickets illegally, the press release from Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) informed. 

 


While genuine user has to go through all these processes for booking his/her tickets through IRCTC sites usually taking around 2.55 minutes, those using these illegal softwares could do the same in around 1.48 minutes, thereby depriving genuine customers, it said.   

 


It further informed that Indian Railways does not allow agents to book Tatkal tickets and the RPF has arrested 60 persons in last two months. 

 


The IRCTC's ticket booking site also reflected the impact of the RPF action as it shows a jump in the availability of Tatkal tickets, it said. 

 


The RPF monitored the entire crackdown from Delhi and arrested persons from places like Jodhpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Shillong, Lucknow, Bengalore, Ahmedabad etc.

 


 During special drive against agents launched on February 11 and 12, a total of 319 IRCTC agents were arrested and 317 agent IDs identified were blacklisted, the release said. 

 


Future railway tickets worth Rs. 37.86 lakh were blocked and used tickets worth Rs. 1.19 crore were recovered.  3 agents also confessed having used illegal software to book railway ticket and after the crackdown by the RPF, software like ANMS, MAC have stopped functioning,  it maintained. 

 


During special drives conducted from April 2019 to January 2020, the RPF had arrested 420 IRCTC agents, it said, adding such drive by RPF will continue in the future.
